 Frequently Asked Questions

  • A midwife and a doula are two very different support people but are complementing roles. A doula is responsible only for your emotional and physical well-being. Your midwife must focus on your and your baby’s medical needs and the potential hurdles of your labor and birth. Your doula can help you understand everything that is happening and facilitate a positive experience.

  • Absolutely not. I will never be able to match your intimacy and relationship with your partner. I will do my best to get to know your partner and help them support you with confidence, knowing that they have someone to guide them and also give them a break if they need one. Your partner has intimate knowledge of you and I have intimate knowledge of childbirth, together we are the perfect support team!

  • The earlier the better! The advantage of hiring me early in pregnancy is that my availability may be more open around your estimated due date. Also, we will have more time to get to know each other before your birth or postpartum.

  • Of course! I offer a complimentary consultation where we can get a feel for one another and you can see if I am the right fit for your birth team. If you feel like I am the right doula for you, wonderful! Let me know and I can begin supporting you right away. If not, that’s absolutely fine! I want you to have the right doula for you. Don’t hesitate to contact me for referrals of other doulas in your area, I know so many passionate doulas with a wide variety of personalities and specialties, and I am happy to help you find the support you need.

  • Yes, I do! Please ask about payment plans in our consultation.
